Planting Seeds

"I lifted my head to spy on Hannah playing nearby in the shade and saw Tom and Mother broad-hoeing the garden. They were planting corn, beans, and squash all in the same mounds together. The corn would grow tall and straight as a pole. The beans would vine the corn towards the sun and the squash would grow in the shadows below."

~The Heretic's Daughter by Kathleen Kent

What? Me anxious to start planting my garden?
Whatever gave you that idea?

The craziest thing happened this year...NONE of my seeds sprouted. Guess I'll be buying them from the hardware store this year...

Why don't you come to my coast and you can plant for me. Strawberries and flowers. I'll even give you a basket of fresh citrus from our trees to take home...deal?!

You know, since this gardening thing is doing it for you, is here any way you can make it easy for the rest of us dummies who just don't have a clue about it?

Maybe you can do a gardening tip once a week. Or just post some photos of yours so we can live vicariously through yours!

Me too! I can't wait to get my hands into the dirt. I think that's why I've been doing so much baking this winter. It's given me something to do with my hands that I usually do in the garden. Hopefully I'll have a better veggie garden this year than last.
